Things to Know
Behind the Scenes
Starts off with a white mold of the fish. I then "antique" it to give the scales depth.
I blotted the areas that are NOT white in my reference with a gray color to break up the undercoat.
(sorry for the blurry photo here) I then add some yellow and brown to give depth where needed. This helps the next coat blend them in with different tones instead of having one color.
Now using an airbrush I misted some color over top of the fish to blend all the previous colors together.
Scale tipped the top of the back in gold, and added my purple stripe..
Add all the spots according to photo references...
Last, but not least, touchup all colors where needed, add fin colors, tone down spots, clean eyes, add to driftwood, and gloss numerous coats. This is the final product of a hard days work.
